Gluten abend

It's a very international city. Many peoples, many languages. Tonight at dinner (at a Japanese restaurant), I dragged out some 50-year-old neurons and said a few phrases in German to a bewildered (by the waitress who jabbered at them far too schnell) couple from Dresden. I wished them a "Guten abend" when we parted, but I kinda like autocorrect's version too.

We walked a lot today (as we did yesterday) and the weather was beautiful all afternoon, after a cloudy start. Here are a few shots of the day. (I haven't yet gotten into the rhythm of taking enough photos of things to make this reportage very interesting. I'm trying to walk the line between just enjoying myself without obligation to the blog and finding things that will be entertaining for you to see and read about.)
(Jack and Rose. "Come back!")

Two scenes from a great food market on Granville Island.

There were artisan and artists galleries, too. This is a handmade broom store. The ones on the wall you see there cost $250. They were actually very beautiful. Does Brooklyn have an artisanal broom store yet?

This is what they're talking about when people keep telling you that Vancouver is beautiful.
